Burkina Faso has formally severed diplomatic relations with France, taking a decisive step to redefine its foreign policy and assert national sovereignty. “The decision concerns only the institutional framework of diplomatic relations between the two countries,” the government said, noting that the historical and human connections linking the populations of Burkina Faso and France endure.
