BAMAKO: Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma appears to be heading towards the Tottenham Hotspur exit door, with reports in Europe suggesting the 29-year-old could leave the north London club at the end of the season.
Bissouma’s future with Spurs has become increasingly uncertain as his contract runs down. The Mali international’s current deal is listed to expire on 30 June 2026, meaning he could become a free agent on 1 July if no fresh agreement is reached. Transfermarkt also lists his current market value at around €12 million.
According to Africa Soccer, Turkish side Amed SK are monitoring the former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, in what would be a surprise move given Bissouma’s previous standing as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic African midfielders.
It has been a difficult campaign for the Eagles star. Bissouma has struggled for consistency and minutes during an injury-disrupted season, with AfricanFootball reporting that he has managed only 11 Premier League appearances this term.
His situation mirrors Tottenham’s broader struggles. Spurs are currently 17th in the Premier League table with 38 points from 36 matches, just two points above the relegation zone, with two fixtures remaining.
For Bissouma, the next few weeks could shape the final chapter of his Tottenham journey. Once regarded as a midfield signing with the power, press resistance and ball-winning ability to transform Spurs’ engine room, he now faces the prospect of leaving without Tottenham receiving a transfer fee.
Malian Star Scoops Top Accolade in France
Away from England, Mali has had a major cause for celebration in France after RC Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré was named the winner of the 2026 Prix Marc-Vivien Foé, awarded to the best African player in Ligue 1.
The 23-year-old becomes the first Malian to win the prestigious award since its creation in 2009. He beat Senegalese duo Lamine Camara of AS Monaco and Moussa Niakhaté of Olympique Lyonnais to the honour.
Sangaré has enjoyed a standout first season with Lens. His influence in midfield, both defensively and progressively, has helped him grow into one of the most exciting African midfielders in European football. He has recorded three goals and four assists during the campaign, while playing a key role in Lens’ impressive season.
His rise also strengthens Mali’s midfield depth at the international level. Since making his senior debut for the Eagles in September 2024, Sangaré has quickly become part of the national-team conversation, adding another layer of optimism for Malian football.
African Transfer Watch: Diomande Linked With Liverpool
Elsewhere, Liverpool continues to be linked with Ivory Coast and RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, one of Europe’s most talked-about young African attackers.
TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool remains interested in the 19-year-old, although Leipzig’s valuation, understood to be north of €100 million, could make any summer deal complicated.
For now, the wider African football story in Europe is clear: Bissouma’s Tottenham chapter may be nearing its end, Sangaré’s reputation is rising sharply in France, and Diomande’s name continues to circulate among Europe’s elite clubs.
