Multi-award-winning South African musician Makhadzi is recovering in hospital after being involved in a car accident while travelling to a scheduled performance.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation reported on Wednesday evening that the artist, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is receiving medical care at a hospital in Polokwane, in South Africa’s Limpopo province.
In a statement shared with the broadcaster, Makhadzi Entertainment confirmed that the singer was involved in a road traffic accident while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg, where she was due to perform. Her condition was described as stable.
“Makhadzi Entertainment confirms that the artist was involved in a motor vehicle accident. She is currently in hospital and in a stable condition. We kindly ask for privacy for Makhadzi and her family during this time,” the statement said.
The incident reportedly occurred on New Year’s Eve. Makhadzi, a prominent figure in Limpopo’s music scene, is widely known for hit songs such as Mokovha, Vumani and Ghanama, and has built a strong following across South Africa and beyond.
She is the latest Limpopo artist to be involved in a road accident while travelling to a performance. In recent months, several musicians from the province have experienced similar incidents, raising renewed concerns about road safety for artists frequently on the move.
Celebrity blogger Maphepha Ndaba reported on social media on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, that the musician had been rushed to hospital following the crash.
Fans and fellow artists have since taken to social media to send messages of support and well wishes, as the singer continues her recovery.
