Zimbabwean football legend Peter Ndlovu has officially been appointed manager of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC after signing a two-year contract.
The deal was confirmed by businessman Wicknell Chivayo on his X account, where he congratulated Ndlovu and shared a photo of himself, the former Coventry City star and Scottland FC owner Scott Sakupwanya.
“Congratulations to Peter Ndlovu on signing a two-year contract as manager of Scottland FC. This is a big moment for Zimbabwean football,” Chivayo wrote.
Ndlovu’s appointment ends weeks of speculation and marks one of the most high-profile technical signings in local football history. He joins Scottland after a successful spell with South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, bringing international experience and pedigree back to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.
Peter Ndlovu, first African players to establish himself in the Premier League
Peter Ndlovu was a key figure for Coventry City during the early Premier League years, combining pace, skill, and intelligence to become one of the club’s most influential attacking players. He adapted quickly to the demands of English football and delivered consistent performances, contributing goals and creativity while unsettling defenders with his direct style of play.
His quality was most memorably demonstrated in 1995, when he scored a historic hat-trick against Liverpool at Anfield, a performance that remains one of Coventry City’s defining Premier League moments. It captured his ability to rise to the biggest occasions and perform against elite opposition.
Beyond his on-field impact, Ndlovu was a trailblazer. As one of the first African players to establish himself in the Premier League, he helped shift perceptions through professionalism and excellence. He remains highly regarded by Coventry supporters and is remembered as both a standout player and an important figure in the club’s modern history.
Scottland FC made history last season by winning the league title in their debut campaign, becoming the first club in 41 years to achieve the feat. Backed by Sakupwanya and Chivayo, the club has rapidly built a powerhouse squad featuring stars such as Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona.
The arrival of Ndlovu is seen as a statement of intent as Scotland targets continental football and long-term dominance.
Club insiders say the two-year deal includes a competitive package and long-term performance incentives, reflecting Scotland’s ambition to professionalise the local game and raise standards across Zimbabwean football.
Supporters have already hailed the move as a turning point, with many saying Ndlovu’s return signals a new era for the Premier Soccer League.
His official unveiling is expected in Harare in the coming days.
