Ghana and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has described his electric start under Pep Guardiola as “a fairytale right now”.
The Black Stars international played a key role as City beat Fulham 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night. The win helped City maintain pressure in the Premier League title race.
Semenyo scored one goal and provided an assist in a confident performance. As a result, City moved three points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Since joining from AFC Bournemouth in the January transfer window, Antoine Semenyo has adapted quickly. He has scored five goals and registered two assists in just eight appearances.
“There are no secrets,” Semenyo said after the match. “It’s just being part of a great team and a great environment. The coach has been great, and they’ve made it easy for me to settle. It’s all a fairytale right now.”
He also stressed the importance of consistency.
“It was very important to win. After the Liverpool game, the message was clear, we had to back it up. It was a tough graft, but we got the three points. Today we did the same thing.”
Semenyo praised teammate Nico O’Reilly for his finish. “When I slid him in, I knew he was going to score. He’s very technical and has that in his locker.”
City return to action this weekend when they face Salford in the FA Cup fourth round. Meanwhile, speculation around Victor Osimhen transfer rumours continues to grow in Europe.
Reports in Nigeria suggest Barcelona are closely monitoring the Super Eagles striker. The Spanish giants reportedly want to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.
Osimhen currently plays for Turkish side Galatasaray. However, he remains one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards. According to Punch Sports Extra, Barcelona have revived their interest despite previous links between Osimhen and Chelsea.
Osimhen has delivered impressive numbers this season. He has scored 15 goals in 21 matches across all competitions.
In the Turkish Super Lig, he has netted nine goals in 15 appearances. In addition, he scored six goals in six UEFA Champions League matches.
Barcelona reportedly view him as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who turns 38 in August.
Juventus have also shown admiration for the Nigerian striker. However, Galatasaray are believed to value Osimhen at around €80 million. He remains under contract until 2029.
For now, both Antoine Semenyo and Victor Osimhen continue to shine on the pitch as transfer speculation builds around them.
